If
we can excuse ourselves a certain immodesty, this was the TOTAL
DOGS BOLLOCKS (this is a gentle English phrase for beyond excellent)
OF A TOUR:
Rain forest, beaches, gigs on
beaches, gigs in rainforest, gigs under a volcano, gigs in Latino
nightclubs, large international audiences, beach side accommodation,
boat trips, snorkeling, swimming, rum in abundance, high season
weather in February, fishing, (fishing and rum for the Hemingwayesque).
And supported by the country's most popular band (there are even
cover bands of this group active in the country!)
Costa Rica's most popular act,
Gandhi, funk, jam band Banooba from New York and a raging punk blues
band from the UK, the Convulsions, played 8-10 packed shows in venues
ranging from the top San Jose night clubs to open air beach shows
and even a gig in a rain forest.
Oh, and the weather? Did we mention
that? It was high summer in Costa Rica in mid-February. Peak time
to go, and so also peak audiences.
It was a gas!
Radio and television coverage
was provided by Conexion
979, beach side accommodation provided by Backpackers in Paradise
(CR) and videography by TVMJ
Productions.
CMEAS covered at least one of airfares, all travel in Costa Rica,
accommodation, PA hire, meals, and payment for each gig.
